After a quiet few weeks months on the Lusso blog, we are back with a brand new monthly feature, LUSSOLOOKS. We’ll be taking an in-depth look at the latest, most hyped, and some absolute classic pairs of trainers, to make sure that you know everything you need to before your next cop. For our first of the LUSSOLOOKS instalments, we’ll be taking a look at a Jordan silhouette that has made a huge return in recent years, the Nike Air Jordan 1 – specifically the Air Jordan 1 Retro High White Black Volt University Gold. I mean, how could we not? The orange and volt heel make it one of the best colourways to have dropped this year. Before we dive into our thoughts, here’s a quick rundown of the essentials.

Having originally released on the 16th of January 2021, the Volt AJ1 took inspiration from other famous black toe models in the Jordan line, adding a modern touch with that volt burst. As with any Jordan 1, the premium upper leather has that textured look that all trainer collectors can appreciate – None of that cheap, flaky stuff here. Now that we know what we’re dealing with, it brings the inevitable ‘What would I wear them with?’. A question that is often in our minds when looking for a new pick-up, especially with a mid/high sneaker. We’ve put together a full fit that compliments these perfectly to help you out. Channelling vibes from Netflix’s hit show ‘Lupin’, we’ve partnered the AJ1’s with a pair of straight-cut black trousers, a long wool charcoal coat, layered with a grey hoodie and plain white tee. Dressing a statement pair of trainers with smarter pieces is a sick trend right now. Using a hoodie to layer up also keeps it casual enough so that this look fits in with most occasions. The monochrome colours let the Jordan’s do the talking, whilst complementing them by allowing the bright orange and volt really shine. There is plenty of fire fits that you can put together, but whatever you dress this exceptional pair with, here’s a few tips to keep in mind:

• Straight is better than skinny – Whatever trousers you’re pairing your new Jordan’s with, make sure that they aren’t too skinny, otherwise, your new Jordan’s will be looking more like moon boots.

• Keep it simple – The plain black and white base and vivid tones really stand out, so let them do just that by keeping the rest of the look simple. Bold prints and statement pieces aren’t needed here.
• Don’t colour match – As tempting as it might be to put on a bright orange or fluorescent yellow top, please don’t.
